'Jujutsu Kaisen' Season Three Announced By TOHO
As Jujutsu Kaisen’s second season comes to a close with the latest episode, TOHO Animation has announced that the hit series will continue in a new teaser that dropped earlier today. Jujutsu Kaisen’s next arc, titled “The Culling Games” will pick up in the fallout of the second season’s “Shibuya Incident,” and if this teaser is any indication, the series will see the return of some characters from prior arcs of the anime, including the series’ original protagonist.
Based on the manga by Gege Akutami, Jujutsu Kaisen aired its first season from 2020-2021 and experienced a massive rise in popularity, being elevated to become one of the “New Big Three” of anime. Following the success of the anime, the series received a theatrical film titled “Jujutsu Kaisen 0” which adapted Akutami’s original one-shot and serves as a prequel to the main series. The film follows the journey of Yuta Okkotsu in the year before the introduction of Yuji Itadori, the protagonist of the main series. Jujutsu Kaisen’ Season Two began airing this past summer, and was split into two parts covering the “Hidden Inventory” and the “Shibuya Incident” arcs respectively.

The series and movie have been animated by MAPPA, which has come under controversy in recent months due to tight deadlines and intense burnout among animators. MAPPA has been confirmed to animate Season 3 as well.
While a third season of Jujutsu Kaisen has officially been announced, there is no release window at this time, meaning fans will likely have to wait a while longer to see how Itadori’s story continues to unfold.
