Rumored Xbox Handheld Now Possibly Coming This Year

Every day, there’s something new in the video game industry, and things shift with the wind, it seems.
There have been rumors circulating for some time that Xbox is developing a handheld to break into the market that the Nintendo Switch and the Steam Deck have had a lock on until recently. Since then, other handhelds like the ASUS Rog Ally and Lenovo Legion Go have launched to crowd the handheld space, at least for PC games.
Phil Spencer confirmed they are indeed working on a handheld, but he claimed it is years away. However, recent reporting from Windows Central tells that Microsoft is now entering the game with a partner-produced handheld, and it’s supposedly coming this year.
While this isn’t the proprietary Xbox device Spencer may have been talking about, it will still play Xbox games and have the trademark “Xbox” guide button found on Xbox controllers. It will look “unmistakably Xbox” and is code-named Keenan. That seems to be about the only confirmed features of the handheld console, but now that the cat’s out of the box and in the wild, we’ll likely start to hear more to confirm this and what, if any, role Spencer and Xbox has in the design, production, and launch of this device.
