Marvel Star Wars comics continue their march forward in time this spring as StarWars.com has revealed the next major comic run for the franchise!

Star Wars (2025) will pick up after the Battle of Jakku in the era of the New Republic, conforming to the long-running standard of main Marvel comics to tell a chronological story. Star Wars (2015) told events between A New Hope and The Empire Strikes Back, Star Wars (2020) told events between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, and each of these was supported by Darth Vader and Doctor Aphra-led comic runs that followed a similar mold.

This time around though, Star Wars (2025) will stand alone. No other series is currently announced to be set in the New Republic era as Star Wars instead diversifies into Legacy of Vader, set immediately after The Last Jedi, and Jedi Knights, a series focused on the Jedi shortly before The Phantom Menace.

Star Wars (2025) is being penned by Alex Segura, who recently completed the Battle of Jakku maxi-series for Marvel. In speaking with StarWars.com, Segura discussed the huge responsibility of helming the flagship comic run and noted the uncharted nature of this period in the timeline. The series will be drawn by Phil Noto, and his comments in the same interview mention that Segura has come up with great storylines and new characters for this era. Noto also notes that he is excited to draw many of the characters anew since there are no existing film or TV versions of them to reference from, and he will be using images of the main actors from the 80s as inspiration.

The first issue of Star Wars (2025) releases May 7th, 2025.
