Nintendo Holds A Direct A Week Before Their Switch 2 Update

The Nintendo Switch 2 has been announced, and the world eagerly awaits the informative Direct Nintendo will hold next week to talk more about it. In the meantime, Nintendo held what felt like a last-minute Direct yesterday to talk about some of the games and features coming to the Switch family.
One of the biggest announcements to come from yesterday’s Direct was the introduction of their Virtual Game Cards. Essentially, this lets Switch users switch their games between systems for ease of access and limited sharing with members of your Nintendo family. Players can “eject” or “load” their games from one console to another. This is supposed to make it easier than taking the cartridge from one to another and waiting for the installation and whatnot. It launches next month.

Another big show was a new look at Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, though there was no release date shown for the highly anticipated game. The showcase demonstrated some of the new psychic abilities that Samus will get, as well as a new suit, but they did at least confirm that it will be out sometime this year.
The Direct had a litany of other games shown, like Disney Villain Cursed Cafe, which is available now and lets players play as a barista, or “potionista,” serving drinks to classic Disney villains. It’s not a 3D game, instead featuring thought bubbles for the characters, but should be a good time for Disney game fans. There was also the remaster of Patapon 1 and 2, a sequel to the Tamagotchi Connections series, and a new look at Pokemon Z-A.
