Nintendo Looks To End Its Gold Points Reward System

The end is coming for My Nintendo Gold Points, the reward currency tied to the Nintendo Switch and its related products. This reward points system will be discontinued on March 24, 2025, at 9:30 PM PDT/12:30 AM EST. This falls just before the upcoming Nintendo Direct event in April. Points will still be redeemable until a year after they were earned, however, a majority of ways to earn points will no longer function, including digitally, in-person at the Nintendo New York store, and making purchases with Switch eShop cards.
It won’t be a total cutoff for the points system. While digital purchases made after 9:30 PM PDT/12:30 AM EST on the specified date will not earn any points, there are still a few ways to earn them. If you preorder a game before the cutoff date, points will still be earned even if you haven’t been charged yet. Physical media has its advantages as well; if the game was released before the cutoff date, points can still be earned if it is purchased within a year of the game’s release.
