Ryan Gosling In Talks To Star In Shawn Levy's 'Star Wars' Movie
Star Wars projects have come and gone from the development spotlight over the last few years. Director Shawn Levy’s untitled film is making the rounds with an interesting new update! According to The Hollywood Reporter, actor Ryan Gosling is currently in talks to star in Levy’s film. The type of lead role is unspecified at this time.
Levy’s currently untitled Star Wars film was first announced in November 2022 and was further expanded upon by the director in October 2023. Jonathan Tropper was confirmed as the scriptwriter of the project in 2024; Levy and Tropper have previously worked together, including projects such as The Adam Project (2022), Kodachrome (2017), and This Is Where I Leave You (2014).
Plot details are being kept heavily under wraps. The specific era in which the film will be set hasn’t been clarified either. Levy’s film is intended to be a standalone piece, meaning it won’t be directly connected to or reliant on previous media installments of the Star Wars Universe to be understandable. While you wait for a release window to be announced, there are several other Star Wars projects coming soon to look forward to. The second season of Andor will premiere on Disney+ on April 22, 2025. The third season of Star Wars: Visions has a 2025 release window. A new movie, The Mandalorian & Grogu, is scheduled to hit theaters on May 22, 2026.
