'Onyx Storm' Takes The Book World By Storm

The highly anticipated third book in the Empyrean series by Rebecca Yarros has hit shelves, and fans are ecstatic. According to the publisher, Little, Brown said it would be their biggest pre-order title since they released the Harry Potter play scripts in 2016. The release saw fans in the UK and the US waiting in line for hours to attend special release parties where they dressed as their favorite characters and received goody bags. Some fans in America stayed up all night waiting for Target to release their special edition online, only for the site to crash due to the mass amount of traffic.
Yarros’ romantasy series took readers by storm but gained even more popularity when BookTok became obsessed with the first book in the series, Fourth Wing. The series follows a 20-year-old heroine, Violet Sorrengail, who is forced into brutal training to become a dragon rider. Unfortunately, Violet suffers from a genetic condition that makes her body weaker and more fragile than her peers, which results in her relying more on her wit and inner strength. After the release, Yarros left a quick message for fans on her Instagram account, “1. It’s in your hands now. 2. Thank you for sharing this incredible experience with me. 3. Enjoy the ride.”
