As the WGA strike ends, Hollywood is ramping up with an update from Variety on Matt Reeves’ second The Batman film starring Robert Pattinson. Per Variety's report, Discovery prioritizes the sequel of Pattinson’s brooding Caped Crusader. As with many productions in Hollywood pausing out of solidarity with the Writers Guild of America, The Batman II was halted for an extraordinary length of time. As writers return to work, there is hope the production timeline won’t be halted for much longer.

The film is set to debut on October 3, 2025, and The Batman II filming report released in February of this year noted production would begin in November of 2024. There hasn’t been an official announcement by the studio when the film will start filming, but industry insiders are imagining an estimated October 2024 start time.

However, films are often pushed back for reasons unbeknownst to the general public. Matt Reeves discussed the script as still a work in progress before the writer’s strike went into effect. The report in Variety confirms as much as they write, “And Warner Bros. would dearly love to see Matt Reeves hunched over his computer, diving back into Gotham’s underworld…”

Hopefully, fans can cross their fingers and hope the film will be released by October 3, 2025.
