The First Trailer For The Upcoming MCU Show 'Echo' Has Been Released
The criticism that Disney is making everything too kid-friendly might be coming to an end with the release of a trailer for Echo. The Marvel series features the character of Maya Lopez, nicknamed Echo, a deaf antagonist who was introduced in the earlier Marvel series Hawkeye. Hawkeye was released in late 2021 and, in addition to Maya, introduced Kingpin known for his earlier appearance in Daredevil, and Kate Bishop, who was hinted to take the mantle of Hawkeye from Clint Barton. The Echo trailer can be seen below.
Brad Winderbaum, the current head of streaming at Marvel addressed the high level of violence in the trailer. “It’s a little on the grittier side for Marvel, and shows the breadth of what Marvel is capable of. It is sort of a new direction for the brand, especially for Disney+.” He then continued, with implications that the show will have a more adult tone, catering to an older audience. “People on our show — they bleed. They die. They get killed and there are real-world consequences.”
Echo will be released to Disney+ on January 10th, 2024.
