The Two 'Knights Of The Old Republic' Games Available On The Mobile Epic Games Store Free Games Program

On January 24, Epic started adding third-party games to their mobile game store. On the same day, they also launched their Free Games Program, intended to offer a set of free games, first on a monthly and later in the year even every week.

Epic added the mobile versions of Knights of the Old Republic (KOTOR) and Knights of the Old Republic II to its game store on February 20. Both titles will be available for free until March 20, 2025.

Released on July 15, 2003, on Xbox, KOTOR was the first computer Role-Playing Game set in the Star Wars universe. Its rules are based on the Star Wars tabletop RPGs developed by Wizards of the Coast.

The action took place nearly four millennia before the events of A New Hope, and players could choose to follow either the Light Side or the Dark Side of the Force. The game includes characters like Revan, Malak, Bastila Shan, or the assassin-droid HK-47, who have remained fan favorites to this day, although neither they nor the events of KOTOR are part of the current Star Wars canon.

The game was both a critical and a financial success. Over the years, it became available on Windows, MacOS, Nintendo Switch, and, more than a decade after its original release, also on iOS and Android.

The development of Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords began roughly at the time of the first game's release. The sequel, which had a darker tone than the first KOTOR, was released on December 6, 2004. It was first released on Xbox but later ported to the same platforms as the first part.

The Epic game store is available on Android worldwide and on iOS and iPadOS in the European Union.

While the games' graphics have been updated since their original releases, they can't hold up with current titles. Still, both KOTOR games are fun to play even after more than two decades.
