Spidey will be swinging to the silver screen a bit later than initially planned. Sony and Marvel Studios’ untitled Spider-Man starring Tom Holland is shifting its release date from July 24th, 2026, to July 31st, 2026.

This date is significant, as it is the last Friday in July, the same period in which Deadpool & Wolverine opened to $211.4M at the domestic box office, eventually making $444.7M worldwide. Though it does seem like a case of Marvel banking on past success, another reason for this shift was its proximity to Christopher Nolan's film, The Odyssey, which opens on July 17th of that year.

The film will have Destin Daniel Cretton in the director’s chair, and Amy Pascal and Marvel president Kevin Feige returning as producers. It is expected that Zendaya will return, but nothing has been confirmed. There is no word on who else is set to return, and the plot is still unknown.

Spider-Man has been a lucrative property for both Marvel Studios and Sony. The three Tom Holland-helmed films alone have earned nearly $4 billion, while Sony's 10 movies and both Spider-Verse animated films have given Sony a nice $9 billion. This new Spidey film will likely add on to the webhead's financial success.
