Who Should Be The Next Big Carnivore In 'Jurassic Park 7'

The Jurassic Park franchise is no stranger to letting large dinosaurs create chaos within stories. With the first two films, that large dinosaur was the Tyrannosaurus Rex. Later films brought in others, such as the Spinosaurus. And even made their own, with the Jurassic World trilogy centring around the creation of the Indominus Rex and what its DNA is capable of producing.

A new film in the franchise, Jurassic World Rebirth, is set to continue the exploration of a world where dinosaurs are roaming the world once again. Though this time with a new cast of characters portrayed by Scarlett Johansson, Johnathon Bailey, and Mahershala Ali. With the announcement came the plot synopsis, which will see this cast come into contact with three colossal creatures on a mission to secure DNA that could save humankind.

But what could those three colossal creatures be? Well, based on that plot synopsis, some aquatic dinosaurs will be encountered at some point in the story. Whether they will be hunting the humans or just passing by, that synopsis seems to suggest the former, with them being described as marauding aquatic dinos. So, while the Shastasaurus is considered the largest marine creature by current archaeology findings, it wouldn’t pose much of a threat.

The Mosasaurus is another large aquatic creature, but is more likely to pose a threat to any boats within its path. A Mosasaurus has already been seen within the Jurassic Park franchise, featuring as one of the attractions during the events of Jurassic World and one of the first to escape the island in Fallen Kingdom. Could it be part of the aquatic attack that strands the explorers? Or perhaps just one of them?

The Tylosaurus is considered a Mosasaur species, though much more predatory. Fossil remains have been discovered showing various creatures it liked to eat. Such include sharks, other Mosasaurs, Plesiosaurs, and even flightless birds. Such a ferocious predator would make for a perfect antagonist during the sea-based exploration. But once the humans arrive on this island, what else could they find?

Perhaps the largest carnivore of Earth’s history? The Giganotosaurus was seen during the latest of the Jurassic World films, facing off against the much loved T-Rex. It also had a tussle with the humans during Dominion, who had quite a challenge in surviving its attack. It was overcome by the T-Rex and a Therizinosaurus, but that’s a great reason to bring it into another film. Let it wreck human and dinosaur alike. And perhaps this sinister, shocking discovery has something to do with its return.

This is a secret hidden for decades, perhaps even relating to something from the original Jurassic Park. After all, there’s plenty of hidden dinosaur research facilities, as has been seen in the Netflix series Camp Cretaceous. That series continued the exploration of hybrid dinosaurs first started in Jurassic World with the Indominus Rex. Hybrids are an interesting thing to continue with, especially if things are pushed even further. And to that end, the Chaos Effect toyline is filled with them.

The background for the toyline, in-universe, is that some time after the events of The Lost World, a group of scientists visited the remains of the park with the aim of reopening it. While completing the DNA sequences for various dinosaurs, many hybrids were created. Including some interesting ones such as the Tanaconda, which mixes a long-necked dinosaur with a snake. It looks very weird, but is also dangerous. Which makes for a unique carnivore for the humans to deal with, even if it might not be the largest.

The toyline was also meant to have a TV series accompanying it, but that fell through. But while hybrids have been explored with recent media, those of this toyline haven’t. So what better way to do so than bring those plans for that TV series into Rebirth. And if the creatives really want to include a T-Rex within the film, the Chaos Effect toyline had three hybrids that used it.
