The season 3 premiere of The Mandalorian is just a few days away. The season will feature Din and Grogu heading to the planet Mandalore, for Din to cleanse himself in the waters and become a Mandalorian once more. It also appears that Bo-Katan Kryze is set to be the antagonist this season, as she wants the Darksaber, and Din has it. However, the last time we saw Din and Grogu, it was in a tearful goodbye between them, as Luke came to take Grogu to train in him the ways of the Jedi. So how exactly did the two reunite before the events of season 3?

Hello, World!

The Book Of Boba Fett gave us insight into Grogu being trained by Luke. Luke trained Grogu similarly to how Yoda trained him, and there are many parallels between this scene, and Luke’s training in The Empire Strikes Back. Din even travels to where Grogu is being trained and meets up with Ahsoka Tano, who warns him about Jedi and attachments.  In the end, however, Grogu was given a choice. He could choose the lightsaber and remain to be trained in the ways of the Jedi, or choose the chainmail armor, and be returned to Din, and be raised a Mandalorian.

Grogu ultimately chose Din and we see Grogu appear at Peli’s shop, as Din is out helping Boba Fett. Din aids Boba Fett in his fight against the Pykes. At some point, Peli joins the fight and brings a surprise with her. She meets Din in battle, and Grogu cannot wait and launches himself into the Mandalorian. Din of course is happy to see him, even with the circumstances they are currently in. As the fight goes on, it gets tougher, and eventually, a Rancor is sent out and causes trouble. It isn’t until Grogu walks out into the battle, and uses force to subdue the Rancor. He then falls asleep next to it, after using all his strength to subdue the creature.

Din and Grogu fly off together in the Naboo Starfighter, Din’s new ship, at the end of The Book Of Boba Fett setting up the events for The Mandalorian season 3. Fans will get to see the pair together again, venturing to Mandalore, and visiting old allies.  Season 3 has a lot in store for our favorite Mandalorian pair.  Even with the looming threat of Bo-Katan and Moff Gideon, the most important thing is that the two of them are together.

The Mandalorian season 3 premieres March 1st on Disney+.
