How Many Hulks Are There In The Marvel Comics?

Season 1 of She-Hulk has reached its conclusion, giving us many different cameos and fun moments, and breaking rules in a way that the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) has not done before. There have been rumors of a World War Hulk movie, and the season finale teased the event more than anything before. Knowing what we know and hearing what we have heard, how many Hulks are there in the Marvel comics and how many might we see in a World War Hulk movie?

SPOILER ALERT: She-Hulk Season 1 Finale

10. Rick Jones

In Incredible Hulk (1962) #1, Bruce Banner pushed Ricky Jones out of the way to save his life from the Gamma Bomb, and the rest is history. No doubt being that close to the bomb made him susceptible to gamma radiation, which ended up turning him into the second Hulk! He was cured of the Hulk personality by the Leader but eventually MODOK and the Leader attempt to turn him into an evil Abomination. Fortunately, Ricky Jones was able to retain enough of his personality and keep himself from turning evil.

It is unlikely we will see this Hulk. However, with the possible appearance of MODOK, it may happen eventually.

9. Spider-Hulk

Before World War Hulk, Spider-Man was the first person not named Bruce Banner to get the Hulk “gene” and turn into a Spider-Man/Hulk hybrid. This Spider-Hulk was not mentally stable despite Peter Parker’s wonderful intellect.

While it is unlikely that this Hulk would show up in a World War Hulk movie, it is possible to get a fun multiversal Easter egg or cameo in an “end of time” setting in Loki or something of that nature.

8. Amadeus Cho

Amadeus Cho was quite literally a genius. He was considered the seventh smartest man on the earth with a love for the Incredible Hulk and Bruce Banner. In Totally Awesome Hulk #2, Amadeus saved Bruce Banner’s life and ended up with the powers of the Hulk with some help from a machine he designed. He thought it was a curse at first, but decided that he could use these powers for good. He ended up traveling the world and fighting different monsters that were terrorizing people. He eventually decided to give up some of his gamma powers but retained enough of the Hulk to become Brawn.

We are not sure if he will ever make an appearance in the MCU. It would be interesting to see a Hulk fan get Hulk powers and balance the inevitable friction between both personalities.

7. Red She-Hulk (Betty Ross)

In She-Hulk, Intelligencia’s founder Todd Phelps possibly “utilized” She-Hulk’s blood to turn into a Hulk.

In Incredible Hulk (1968) #162, Intelligencia is led by MODOK who turned Betty Ross into Red She-Hulk. It would be a completely crazy development to see Bruce reunited with Betty Ross and then find out that she had been manipulated genetically to become a red Hulk! It would be similar to when Captain America met the Winter Soldier. It will interesting to see this interaction play out with the multiverse at its height.

6. She-Hulk (Jennifer Walters)

Jennifer Walters is already in the MCU and won’t be leaving any time soon. However, I had hoped for a fight scene at the end of Season 1 even if it’s just She-Hulk vs. Abomination or at least Todd.

It will be interesting to see where the MCU takes her character next. I hope to see her use her full power in a real fight with the introduction of the World War Hulk storyline.

5. Hulkpool

There was a time in Marvel comics when Deadpool became Hulk with one goal, to kill Deadpool. Deadpool was so serious about killing Deadpool that he attempted to travel back in time to kill himself, but ended up just really screwing the timeline up instead.

It is possible that we will see this storyline either alluded to in an Easter egg or referenced to by the Time Variance Authority (if it still does functions the same as in the first season of Loki). I can see this being a part of a World War Hulk movie because of Deadpool’s popularity with the fanbase but only time will tell.

4. Red Hulk (Thunderbolt Ross)

Like his daughter Betty Ross, General Thaddeus E. “Thunderbolt” Ross turned into the Red-Hulk at one point and channeled the hate he has for the Hulk to hunt down “The Other Guy.”

The question is, will we see the Red Hulk in the MCU? We know there is going to be a Thunderbolts movie, but will it include THE Thunderbolt Ross? Marvel may have just convinced Harrison Ford to come and play Thunderbolt Ross after the passing of William Hurt. This all but confirms that Thunderbolt Ross will be a part of the “Thunderbolts.”

3. Skaar

The big reveal at the end of the first season of She-Hulk is that Hulk had left for the planet Sakaar at the beginning of the season. Why? Perhaps it was to pick up his son. In the comics, Skaar is the son of the Hulk and Caiera the Oldstrong. While we don’t know who Skaar’s mother is in the MCU, we now know that both Hulk and Skaar are on Earth. That means Earth-616 now has three Hulks and at least one abomination.

She-Hulk has been slowly introducing mutants and now a bunch of Hulks to the world. As the multiverse gets crazier, so does the MCU universe. There is no telling the impact of Bruce Banner’s son on the MCU.

2. Kluh

With the misuse of magic in She-Hulk and the recent magic hijinks that went on in both Spider-Man: No Way Home and Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness, it is not impossible for the Hulk to get the rough end of a spell and turn into a terrible antithesis of the Incredible Hulk known as Kluh. Unlike the Incredible Hulk, Kluh is interested only in destroying anything and everything in his path.

On the other hand, we would need someone to stop or reverse the spell to counter Kluh and this plotline doesn’t appear to be developing in the MCU.

1. Titan

Titan

A Hulk always has two personalities, the human’s and the Hulk’s. However, there comes a point that even the Hulk has another personality that reveals itself and causes the Hulk to transform into something completely different like a monster that can grow to over 30 stories high. Titan is the alter-ego of the Incredible Hulk himself.

Since we do not know the extent of Titan’s power, it would be incredible to see him make an appearance in the MCU. This would bring in an entirely new dimension to the Incredible Hulk if the storyline were to pan out in the World War Hulk movie.
