A New 'Star Wars' Trilogy Is In The Works

Star Wars fans have much to get excited about as it has officially been announced that three new films are in the works. There have been quite a few projects announced for the Star Wars fandom, but this is the first news we have received that a new trilogy is on the way. It is not yet clear if the films will be part of the Skywalker Saga, making them Episodes 10-12, or if this will be the start of a new saga. Some insiders have said that the new films will sit alongside the other new projects on the way, but with no confirmation from Lucasfilm or Disney, there is no way to know for sure.

The films will be written by Simon Kinberg and produced by Kinberg and Lucasfilm chief Kathleen Kennedy. There is no word yet on who will direct or be cast in the trilogy. Kinberg is no stranger to the galaxy far, far away as he is one of the co-creators of Star Wars Rebels and acted as a consultant on J.J. Abrams’ Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens. He also has writing and producing credits outside of the franchise with projects such as the X-Men films, Logan, Deadpool, Deadpool 2, Deadpool & Wolverine, Mr & Mrs Smith, The Martian, Sherlock Holmes, and Murder on the Orient Express. Hopefully, Lucasfilm or Disney will give us more concrete information soon about this new trilogy.
