The boy who lived, Daniel Radcliffe, will executively produce a documentary on his former stunt double David Holmes, who was left paralyzed after a terrible accident on the set of Harry Potter. With this new documentary now, David takes on the mantle, produced by Sky and HBO Documentary Films, David Holmes: The Boy Who Lived will follow the story of David, the prodigious young gymnast who formed a deep bond with Radcliffe.

After an accident on the Harry Potter and the Deadly Hollows: Part 1 set Holmes was paralyzed from the chest down. An explosion, which was part of a planned stunt, sent David to the ground, damaging his spine, and turning his life around. The film features personal footage from Holmes’ life shot over the past decade. From David’s stunt work, his personal life and struggles; as well as scenes from his life as it is today. Interviews with David Holmes, his family, Daniel Radcliffe, and former crew members are part of the film as well.

The film promises a meaningful arc, showing what it is like to grow with adversity and the effort needed to overcome it, alongside people who care and bond during troublesome times.

The documentary is scheduled to air next month, available on HBO and HBO Max.
