Disney Is Reconsidering Quantity Of Content: Can You Have Too Much Marvel And 'Star Wars'?

Disney is currently gearing up to release the latest installments of its Marvel Cinematic Universe and Star Wars franchises. More content is sure to be on the way, but how much of it? Disney may be reducing their output to save some money in the long run; as Bob Iger put it: “We want the quality on the screen, but we have to look at what they cost us.” Sources also indicate that the current produced content will be more spread out than it used to be, with a lot of content planned for this year being pushed back a bit.

What does this mean for the series in the long run? It’s too soon to say for sure. Regardless, it is certain that Disney's franchises are undergoing a shake-up to some extent, and we’re all waiting to see what happens next. This might not be a bad thing, some people have reported feeling burned out from all the releases, and as one agency partner said, “You can have 10 mediocre shows or you can have five great shows.” With 2022 being a disappointing year for Disney, maybe this is a step in the right direction. Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is now in theaters, and The Mandalorian season three will premiere on Disney+ on March 1.
