First Look At Peter Dinklage As 'The Toxic Avenger'

Peter Dinklage is about to add a new dimension to the mutant tunic of 1984's cult classic The Toxic Avenger. Entertainment Weekly has shared a first-look photo, igniting fans' anticipation for what's to come.

The Game of Thrones alums will star as Winston Gooze, a janitor working at a corrupt chemical plant. His life takes a dramatic turn when he is involved in a freak accident with toxic waste, leading to a transformation that gives him superpowers. Now known to the world as Toxie, he takes on crime and corporate greed in his small town.

Blair spoke with Entertainment Weekly in 2023 regarding his inspiration for the look for this loveable green superhero. Blair only commended the initial run of films in the late 1980s, specifically The Toxic Avenger Part II and The Toxic Avenger Part III: The Last Temptation of Toxie. Blair said, “And we definitely stayed true to some of the really iconic elements: the tutu that’s melted onto his body, the janitor’s mop as his super weapon.

The film boasts an excellent supporting cast, such as Kevin Bacon (Guardians of the Galaxy), who will play Bob Garbinger, the ruthless corporate overload of the chemical company where Winston works. Elijah Wood will portray Bob’s brother, Fritz Garbinger, a character with a complex relationship with his brother and a key player in the film's plot.

The film made its debut to critical acclaim at Austin’s Fantastic Fest in September 2023, where it was praised for its unique take on the superhero genre and its engaging performances. After acquiring distribution rights, it is set to be released on August 29th, 2025, much to the excitement of fans and movie enthusiasts.
