In a surprise reveal, the Lego Group and Pokémon Company are teaming up!
This follows an accidental leak on social media, which revealed the collaboration before it was quickly taken down. With the announcement revealed, though, and news spreading quickly, Pokémon and Lego moved ahead with their official reveals, posting both a teaser trailer and an announcement on the Lego website.
The short clip shows a Pikachu tail built out of Lego blocks and then electrifying the air, illuminating the logos for both companies involved in the collaboration. The tail continues to supply power, shorting out the signage in the process, before bouncing away.
This announcement comes as such a surprise because Pokémon already has a deal in place with Mega Blocks, a Lego rival, to produce Pokémon-themed sets. It is unclear if this collab will exist simultaneously with that deal, or if it signals the end of Mega Blocks’ time with the pocket monster battling brand.

At the same time, it also makes perfect sense after several years of fruitful collaboration between Nintendo and Lego on a range of sets for play and display. Pokémon is a major Nintendo property, though not owned wholly by them, and with the launch of Pokémon Legends Z-A later this year and other Pokémon projects in the works, the franchise remains incredibly strong. Fans will have to wait a bit longer for whatever Lego has cooking though, as the collaboration’s announcement on Lego’s website mentioned the year 2026.
