CinemaCon, the annual event for Hollywood studios and exhibitors, has proven to be a wealth of information for fans regarding many major upcoming films and IP for the year 2025 and beyond. Sony and its Spider-Man properties were one of the many projects given the spotlight, so CultureSlate is here with the latest news.

Headlining the news were a great many new details about the formerly untitled Spider-Man 4, featuring Tom Holland. Now titled Spider-Man: Brand New Day with its release date set for July 31st, 2026, filmmaker Destin Daniel Cretton took to the CinemaCon stage to discuss the film. He noted how he’s been a longtime fan of the IP, and has always enjoyed the messy humanity and humor of Peter Parker. Cretton also noted that the film is something no one has seen before.

Holland himself appeared via a pre-recorded video to thank the audience, while noting that Brand New Day is a fresh start. The film takes its title from a 2008 comic book storyline of the same name, where after a major event, everyone forgets who Spider-Man is. The parallels between this and the finale of Spider-Man: No Way Home are apparent, and the comic event was also notable for ending the marriage of Peter Parker and Mary Jane.

Moving over to the Spider-Verse side of Sony projects, Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse got the spotlight when the trio of producer Phil Lord and co-directors Bob Persichetti and Justin K. Thompson took to the stage. The film is releasing June 4th, 2027, and the filmmaking team explained that they wanted to take their time to tell the story right. They also came with a first look at Beyond the Spider-Verse, the clip showing Miles as he proclaims he will do things his way before Spider-Gwen and other members of her “rebel” faction seen at the end of Across the Spider-Verse appear in brief flashes. This sizzle reel has not been released to the public.

A brief plot summary was also offered by Lord, who stated Miles begins this third film on the run from many of the other Spider-People across the multiverse while hinting that “Gwen and his other friends may or may not be enough to help him save the family that’s been the leading part of the entire system.” Lord made a final tease that the film is being specially created for large format screens and that it looks insane.
