Warning: Spoilers for John Wick Chapter 4
John Wick is back. Lionsgate Motion Picture Group Chair Adam Fogelson announced a fifth movie at CinemaCon and confirmed the film is already in development. This came as a surprise to fans as the protagonist seemingly died at the end of the John Wick Chapter 4. While no body was shown, the final scene focused on Winston and the Bowery King gathering at Wick’s grave. Keanu Reeves, who plays the titular character is the only confirmed cast member but Fogelson hinted toward others. He said, “Keanu, Chad, Basil, and Erica would not return unless they had something truly phenomenal and fresh to say with these characters and this world. We can’t wait for audiences to see where the journey takes us next.” Thunder Road Producers Basil Iwanyk and Erica Lee agreed and highlighted the importance of taking the “proper next step.”
Chad Stahelski, who directed the previous films, will return to direct the new film. No plot details have been revealed but in 2023, Iwanyk thought the fifth film would feature a time jump, calling it a book rather than a chapter. While fans will have to wait a while to see the new film, the first three are available on VOD and streaming with John Wick Chapter 4 available for free on Roku. The movies launched a few television series The Continental: From the World of John Wick and the currently in development John Wick: Under The High Table. The franchise has expanded beyond television and film with an immersive experience in Las Vegas and an upcoming video game.
