May Release For 'Daggerheart', Critical Role's 'Dungeons & Dragons' Inspired Game

Once again, Critical Role is bringing a new tabletop RPG game called Daggerheart. This game will focus on storytelling and long-term campaigns and will be a fresh look at the RPG genre. The company explained in a statement how this game is its “contribution to the world of high-fantasy tabletop roleplaying games. Daggerheart is a game of brave heroics and vibrant worlds that are built together with your gaming group.”

The game is set to launch on May 20th, 2025, and currently, the game is available for pre-order. Interestingly, the game is stepping away from traditional d20 mechanics and introducing a new ‘Hope’ and ‘Fear’ set of dice. When players roll the two 12-sided dice, there will be much more tension between the next choice the player has to make. When players want to create a new character, they must use the card base system of ‘Ancestry’ and ‘Community’ cards to develop their identity.

Players can use ‘Subclass’ and ‘Domain’ cards to create the character's abilities. The core said it is currently available for pre-order and was designed by Mat Wilma. There is a limited edition Daggerheart set that will feature a GM screen, a dice set, a rip pad of character sheets, and tokens with alternate cover art. with exclusive cover art from Dominik Mayer.
