Monsters Inc. Land To Replace Muppet Courtyard At Disney World
Walt Disney World dropped some bittersweet news during D23 this week, confirming that MuppetVision 3D* at Hollywood Studios will soon take its final bow. The beloved attraction, which has been a cornerstone of the park and the last project Jim Henson worked on before his passing in 1990, will make way for an all-new Monsters, Inc.-themed land.
But don’t fret, Muppet fans! Kermit, Miss Piggy, and the gang aren’t going anywhere—they’re just moving up to the big leagues. Disney announced that the Muppets will finally get their first-ever Disney ride: a reimagined Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster! Aerosmith is handing over the reins (and guitars) to the Muppets, who will transform the high-speed coaster into a “rockin’ music festival.”

In their official statement, Disney shared, “The Muppets will be taking over Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, teaming up with some of music’s biggest stars for a rockin’ music festival! We know so many of you share our love for The Muppets and know their energy will be a perfect fit for this coaster.”
There's still time for those who want one last chance to soak in the zany antics of MuppetVision 3D* or experience Aerosmith’s adrenaline-pumping tracks. Disney hasn’t set final dates for either attraction yet, but construction on the new Monsters, Inc. land is slated to begin in 2025.
Acknowledging fans’ deep connection to MuppetVision 3D*, Disney reassured guests that they’re exploring ways to preserve the show and keep Jim Henson’s legacy alive for future generations.
While we’ll miss the iconic 3D film, the promise of a high-energy Muppets ride has us excited for what’s to come. And hey, it’s the Muppets—if anyone can turn a transition like this into a standing ovation, it’s them!
