New Details On Bungie's New MOBA 'Smash Brothers' Hybrid
Bungie, the creators of Halo and ongoing developers of the Destiny live-service game franchise, have had a few other games in the works for a while now. In addition to a new entry in their old Marathon IP, the other most notable project has the codename of Gummy Bears.
Gummy Bears, a team-based competition-focused game with MOBA elements and a bright, colorful aesthetic, was recently transferred from Bungie’s internal development to a new PlayStation studio, with 40 Bungie developers leading the game’s ongoing development in its new home.
New information has recently been revealed by The Game Post, which discussed some unique gameplay elements and how the MOBA elements have likely been evolved by the team from Bungie. They state that sources claim the damage mechanic will be much more like fighting games such as Super Smash Bros., where damage taken appears as an increasing percentage, and the high it goes, the further back combatants will be thrown during battle. This can go so far as to throw a player out of the map.

The game is set to feature multiple game modes, with three classes in the form of Support, Attack and Defense. There will also apparently be a social space for players to hang out with each other. Another detail, as apparently revealed in recent patents filings by Bungie, is that towers will dynamically react to the environment, even moving their position, dodging incoming damage and generating unique attacks.
While there is no date for Gummy Bears’ release, the game has apparently been lauded internally by playtesters. When it is eventually released, it should be a fun experience for gamers with these unique traits that help it stand out from other entries in the same genre.
