Sigourney Weaver is one of the queens of science fiction. She is accustomed to working on multi-billion dollar projects and may be best known for her roles in Alien, Avatar, and Stranger Things. She enjoys having fun with authoritative roles and adds a bit of sarcastic humor in her signature way.

It was announced last fall that Weaver would have a part in The Mandalorian and Grogu, which is set to come to theaters in May 2026. She said that her number one reason behind saying yes to the role was being able to work with little Grogu, mentioning that “he's a little badass” and that he has grown up and learned a lot since last seen in the series The Mandalorian, starring Pedro Pascal.

While Sigourney Weaver is not able to say much about her part in The Mandalorian film yet, she has revealed that she will have an air of authority. She will be giving Din Djarin on a mission to the Outer Rim “where all the bad stuff happens.” She has also mentioned that she gets to film scenes with Grogu, and that was her green light to accept the role. Further details about Weaver's character have not been announced. Possibilities include a counterpart to Greef Karga, played by the beloved Carl Weathers, who passed away last year; a completely different leadership position on Nevarro; or a New Republic official. It would also be interesting to see if she is in an entirely unexpected role, such as an alien species, presenting a new challenge for her to take on.

Weaver has commented that she loves the Star Wars universe and director Jon Favreau's masterpieces and is really excited to join the Mandalorian team. Other cast members already confirmed for Grogu’s big screen debut include Jeremy Allen White, who will voice Rotta the Hutt, and Jonny Coyne, who will reprise his role as Imperial Warlord from the last season of The Mandalorian.

There are going to be several more announcements made as we get closer to the release of The Mandalorian and Grogu in theaters next year. But for the moment, we are limited on the finer details. It's also unclear if this will be the finale for Grogu's adventures, or if we will have another spin-off show or perhaps another season of The Mandalorian.
