Not even a year after its release, it has been announced that the suns will set on the servers for Star Wars: Hunters. Having been released in June 2024 by Zynga on Android, iOS, and Nintendo Switch, the arena combat game brought new content across five seasons, with that fifth now confirmed to be its last.
Zynga has provided a timeline of events up to the shutdown date. Season five will be extended by three weeks, with a few event re-runs to make sure there are still things to aim for across the three weeks. On April 15, the final content update will happen, which will also see in-game purchases disabled across all platforms. As part of that new content is a new character, who will be playable by all immediately upon release. A final ranked mode leaderboard will run that rotates through all battlefields and game modes until the servers are shut down on October 1.

As part of the announcement, Zynga stated, “We understand this news may be disappointing and want to assure you that this decision was not made lightly. Your passion and dedication to the game and its community have meant the world to us, and we are committed to providing visibility and updates throughout the transition process. … Thank you for being a part of this incredible journey and for the time you’ve spent playing Star Wars Hunters.”
Though Star Wars: Hunters is coming to a close, there is still some good news in the Star Wars gaming world. At Celebration Japan next month, it has been confirmed that, on the Saturday of the event, a new turn-based tactics game by Respawn Entertainment will be announced.
