'Star Wars: Jedi Power Battles' Is Back
With Star Wars being the most popular media franchise ever, it’s only natural that video games would follow, and they did just about right away. Since then, we’ve seen some terrible games (Star Wars Kinect) and some of the best video games of all time (Knights of the Old Republic) with dozens of entries in between. One of the more liked games is the Phantom Menace-themed game Jedi Power Battles, playable on the Dreamcast, Playstation, and Gameboy Advance. Released in 2000, the story follows the plot of the first film, with two playable characters from a set of five Jedi hack and slash their way through the game. The mechanics were kind of bare, and it wasn’t the most complicated game (criticism about high difficulty aside), but it has its charms.
Now that we’re living in the era of the update for video games, Jedi Power Battles is next up on the list. It has been announced that on January 23rd 2025, we’ll be getting an update of the game playable on the PC, Switch, PS 4 and 5, and Xbox One and Series X/S. The updated game includes new challenges, more unlockable characters, and an updated control system, among many other changes.
It’s nice to see more Star Wars games get updates like this, especially since we just got games like Bounty Hunter updated to positive reviews. This definitely means that we’ll get that updated Knights of the Old Republic game, right?
