'The Spider Within', A 'Spider-Verse' Short Film Releases On YouTube On March 27th
The Miles Morales’ Spider-Verse trilogy is about to expand a little more. The Spider Within is a new short film that will be released on March 27.
The story will follow Miles, as he struggles to balance his life as a student, friend, and superhero. While going through all these experiences, Miles suffers a panic attack, forcing him to face his anxiety. This new short story will give fans a little insight into the life of Miles Morales, as most of what we know about this version of Spiderman developed during the multiversal complications he has faced.
We get to know a little more about this Spider-Man who, as we learned in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, was never supposed to be a superhero, to begin with; how he relates to the citizens as the new Spider-Man or to his friend Ganke Lee. Navigating those situations will teach Miles how asking for help is just as brave as facing supervillains.

This production comes in partnership with the Kevin Love Fund, as part of a mental health-focused program designed to raise awareness among students about the dangers that come with mental health issues and what measures they can implement in their lives to help themselves and maybe others.
Jarelle Dampier, director of “The Spider Within, commented on the short film's objectives: “Miles represents so many of us doing the best we can in our day-to-day lives. We don’t often realize all that we’ve been through until our own body forces us to become aware of its experience. My intention is that ‘The Spider Within’ can motivate deeper conversations amongst friends & family about their own mental health journeys — and I hope it feels like a love letter to those who adore Miles Morales.”
