There is a new trilogy of The Witcher video games in production with CD Projekt Red, though there is not a release date yet. Most sources are referring to it as The Witcher 4, and the studio nicknamed it Project Polaris, but the studio is likely going with another name that differentiates it from the first three games. CD Projekt Red is working with Unreal Engine 5 for the new production.

The other bit of news is that the game does not appear to be focused on the protagonist of the first three installments (and the show), Geralt, originally voiced by Doug Cockle. Cockle commented that Geralt is in the newest game, but “we just don’t know how much and the game won’t focus on Geralt.”

News of the coming Witcher project first dropped when pre-production began back in March 2022, and the game is now in full-scale production as of November 2024. There are currently 400 development teams working on Polaris. It’ll still be likely 12 or 18 months before marketing for the newest installment really takes off. CD Projekt Red is hoping to release the entire trilogy, following Polaris, over a six-year period.
