There are very few absolutes in life. Death, taxes, and sports referees are only halfway competent at best, and, most notably, the longer a horror franchise goes, the higher the odds are that it will eventually go into space. Jason, Pinhead, and Leprechaun all had their turn among the stars and now we see the trend continue. With the success of the found footage anthology series V/H/S on the streaming platform Shudder, we’ve seen consistent, fairly solid releases annually for the series, with V/H/S/85 being the latest offering. We have official confirmation of the seventh film in the series coming in 2024, and what we have heard sounds fairly interesting.

V/H/S will be the latest horror film series to make its way to space. What that means for the moment is unknown, but that could hint at a film with the earliest setting. While the last Apollo mission to the moon had concluded before VHS tapes were commonplace in the average household, the two events were relatively close enough to each other that it’s not unreasonable to assume that we’ll be getting a space-themed V/H/S film set in the seventies. It has been confirmed that the latest film will have a far more sci-fi slant than the previous films, so space is a natural aspect.  The film could also centre around the Challenger space shuttle's voyages.

So far a solid release date has yet to be given for the next film, outside of 2024.
