As Hollywood continues to make live-action remake after live-action remake, comes, you guessed it, another live-action remake. This time, the movie being remade is the 2010 film How To Train Your Dragon, the first in a trilogy of movies based on the children’s books written by Cressida Cowell. The original animated version had two sequels, which were made in 2014 and 2019.
Mason Thames will be playing the role of the lead protagonist, Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III, a viking who befriends a dragon named Toothless. Gerald Butler will reprise his role of Stoick, whom he played in the animated version, while Nico Parker, Nick Frost, Julian Denison, Browyn James, Ruth Codd, and Harry Trevaldwyn have also been given roles in the film.
The trailer, which can be seen below, features several iconic scenes from the original movie, including the scene where Hiccup meets Toothless for the first time. Despite being told to kill the beast with whom his people have been at war, Hiccup hesitates. When his hesitation to kill the dragon turns into mercy, he ends up sparing the beast, kicking off a friendship and an attempt at peace.
The film is scheduled to come to theatres on June 13th of this year.
