Tony Gilroy Will Receive A Career Achievement Honor At The WGA Awards

Not many people get recognized for all the work they put into their crafts. But some people dedicate huge efforts, a lot of time, and talent to their objectives it is impossible not to recognize their job. Such is the case of Tony Gilroy.
The Writer’s Guild of America East will honor Gilroy at their upcoming ceremony with the Ian McLellan Hunter Award for Career Achievement.
Tony Gilroy started his career writing the script for the 1992 movie The Cutting Edge, followed by Dolores Claiborne in 1995.

His most famous works include the first four movies of the Bourne series. He wrote the screenplays for The Bourne Identity, The Bourne Supremacy, and The Bourne Legacy. Additionally, he wrote and directed the sequel to the trilogy, The Bourne Legacy. In 2007 he received a total of seven Academy Awards nominations, including Best Picture Best Director, and Best Original Screenplay.
Recently his newest project, the Disney+ Andor series, received several nominations across many award shows; this includes 8 Emmy nominations, as well as the Critic’s Choice Super Award for Best 2023.

With a remarkable career, it was only a matter of time that the WGA East bestowed upon him the award for Career Achievement. Lisa Takeuchi Cullen recognized his work in a statement: “Tony embodies the best of what it means to be a Writers Guild member. He is an extraordinary talent who has written some of the most thought-provoking and exciting screenplays of the last 30 years.”
