Upcoming 'Narnia' Movies Set To Film At Shepperton Studios In The U.K.
The Chronicles of Narnia fandom has been chomping at the bit for the return of C.S. Lewis’s fantasy world to television or film for quite a while, and it looks like Greta Gerwig and Netflix will be stepping through the wardrobe as a team to bring it all to life on the small screen. There are not too many released details about the intricacies of the project just yet, as it is in the pre-production stages. Filming is expected to begin in July 2025 at the historic U.K. Shepperton Studios.
Gerwig and Matthew Aldrich are credited with writing the screenplay based on Lewis’s novel series for the adaptation to Netflix. Mark Gordon, Douglas Gresham, Vincent Sieber, and Amy Pascal are producing, with Greta Gerwig helming the director’s chair. Speculation suggests that a late 2026 release is a possibility. When asked about the project in an interview, Amy Pascal said that Gerwig’s rendition of Narnia will be “A very new take.” The producer continued that for this story, “It’s all about rock and roll.” Fans are debating what that vague description means.

Some comments suggested Pascal was joking or intentionally deflecting to protect the project as it is still in very preliminary stages. One comment by user Icarus said, “Rock and Roll eh? Well, I guess Magician’s Nephew does contain at least one ‘musical’ sequence when Aslan sings the world into creation… I wonder if Lions can play the Electric Guitar?”
Well, every wardrobe should have at least one Metallica T-shirt, but we digress. Chances are that Pascal was simply not at liberty to release details at this time. All in good time as production picks up, more details are bound to surface.
