A Kaiju Short Film From Takashi Yamazaki, Director Of 'Godzilla Minus One', Will Release Online
After watching Star Wars and Close Encounters of the Third Kind as a kid, Takashi Yamazaki wanted to become a filmmaker.
Although he has been directing films for more than two decades, it was only in recent months that he became a well-lnown name beyond his home country, Japan, where he has been a star for years. His latest feature film, Godzilla Minus One, is one of the most acclaimed movies of the long-standing franchise and has also been an international box office hit. He and his special effects crew are the first Japanese team not only to be nominated for an Academy Award for Best Visual Effects, but also to win an Oscar in this category.

Takashi Yamazaki's next project is another kaiju film (Japanese term for movies with giant monsters) but on a much smaller scale than Godzilla Minus One. Titled Food Losslla (Fūdo Rosura), it will be a web film with a length of approximately one minute, and a trailer for it has now been released. In the 15-second long clip, a giant monster that seems to be made up of fruits or vegetables and has telescope eyes is destroying a city, while people flee from the emerging destruction.
Yamazaki created the film, which will be released on March 14, on behalf of a big food corporation. Shot in Ashikaga, Tochigi, the special effects were created by the same team who worked on Godzilla Minus One.
For those who want more content from Yamazaki, the director recently stated that he is working on another feature film.
