A 'Star Wars' Easter Egg That Fans Have Been Looking For For Over 4 Decades Has Finally Been Found
Star Wars fans look forward to finding the special treasures hidden in the intellectual properties across everyone’s favorite franchise in the galaxy far, far away. One Easter egg, in particular, has been quite elusive, to say the least. Ken Ralston, concept artist and visual effects supervisor has long claimed to have hidden a tennis shoe somewhere in the original trilogy as a joke. George Lucas did not notice it, however, so the rumor is that this shoe has been hidden out in space for the better part of 40 years. The YouTube channel, EC Henry believes that they may have inadvertently spotted this gem and if that is the case, the mystery of the longest-running Easter egg could be solved.
EC Henry says that there is a speck observable in the scene involving the Executor crashing into the second Death Star during the Battle of Endor. It cannot be verified as the shoe in question, as even when zoomed in the image remains blurry. To play devil’s advocate upon investigation one could speculate that the shoe appears to be a high-top tennis shoe upside down. Regardless EC Henry argues that it resembles more of a loafer or canvas sneaker rather than the expected lace-up tennis shoe. The popular Youtuber uses the opportunity to imagine what a shoe shaped and/or themed ship could look like and how it might function.
Star Wars sleuths should check out the scene in Return of the Jedi to see if you can spot Ralston’s lost sneaker!
