After much anticipation, Andor Season Two finally has its first trailer, alongside a poster dominated by the slightly blurred, sepia-toned visage of Diego Luna’s Cassian Andor, while the faint imprint of the First Death Star looms in the background.

The trailer itself, at a minute and a half, is dramatically different from any previous Star Wars trailer. It makes use of a real-world song throughout its runtime, the aptly titled “The Revolution Starts Now” by Steve Earle. Accompanying the flashes of footage of many of our surviving characters from Season 1 are quotes from various critics and an assertion of the film’s high status in their eyes. Some fans have expressed dislike for both elements, but that didn’t stop the trailer from hitting #1 on YouTube’s Trending page.

There is a fair bit of action in the trailer with a full-on party, Mon Mothma dancing, and plenty of sunlight. We also see Rebels planting bombs, pulling weapons, or in the most frequently shown clips, stealing a, likely experimental, model of TIE fighter from the Empire and using it against their forces.

In the accompanying StarWars.com article, Tony Gilroy also reveals a surprise about the show’s release schedule. Midway between a binge and a weekly release, Andor Season 2 will instead drop its episodes weekly, for four weeks, in three-episode blocks. This fits with how we knew Season 2 would be structured, with four arcs each telling a year counting down to Rogue One, with the final arc directly leading into the start of that film. But, it is still a welcome surprise for them to deliver what amounts to a Star Wars movie once a week, for four weeks straight.

Episodes 1-3 were written by Tony Gilroy, 4-6 were written by Beau Willimon, Dan Gilroy wrote 7-9, and Tom Bissell wrote 10-12. Helping bring their scripts to life are directors Ariel Kleiman, who will handle Episodes 1-6, followed by Janus Metz for 7-9, rounded out by Alonso Ruizpalacios for 10-12. The new season starts on April 22nd, 2025, on Disney+.
