Avatar Studios Has Begun Casting For A New Animated Show 'Avatar: New Generations'
The Avatar: The Last Airbender fanbase eagerly, and perhaps impatiently, await a trailer for the live-action Netflix adaptation that is supposedly coming this year. In the meantime, more and more updates on other projects involving the original creators and their new studio, Avatar Studios, are released.
Most recently, one of those updates pertains to a new animated show that is currently titled Avatar: New Generations. Casting has begun, and the casting news they reported surrounds Avatar Kyoshi and her friends from the extended universe books. Source Avatar News speculates that this could be a placeholder, but that it could relate to the news that came out not long ago that Avatar Studios is releasing a new animated show focusing on the next Avatar after Korra. This is supposed to release in 2025 along with the first animated feature film, which will focus on Aang and his friends as young adults.

Their reasoning comes from the name New Generations and they are connecting it to the plot of the first new show being about the Avatar after Korra, which is an earthbender. That’s another connection they are using, as the casting news is about Avatar Kyoshi and her friends from the books Yun, Rangi, and Hei-Ran. It’s unclear if they will be shown in flashbacks, but Avatar News says they will play a major role.
In time this will all become clear, especially because as a result of the tribulations that Korra went through in her series, especially at the end of season two, she broke the 1000-year generational spiritual connection with previous Avatars. Could the new Avatar rediscover a way to connect with the Avatars of the past? We shall see.
