Big Casting Announcement for 'The Lord Of The Rings: The Rings Of Power' Season Two
It’s been a little over a year now since the first season of The Rings of Power debuted on Prime TV, ending with the reveal of the first three rings of power. It was one of a series of firsts for the Tolkien franchise, taking the world he started nearly 100 years ago and turning it into a television show depicting the rather unexplored Second Age. It was the first visual depiction of the kingdom of Númenor, and there was a spectacular reveal of the creation of the realm of Mordor.
There’s been a lot of development on the second season since then, including the disruption of the writers and actors strikes over the summer. A trickle of casting information has been popping up over the last few months, and now we know there will be a new actor portraying the Dark Lord himself.

According to Fellowship of Fans on X, Gavi Singh Chera will portray Sauron in the second season of the show. According to their reporting, he is to portray the original form of Sauron. This means he will be shown as the Maia he originated as, appearing angelic and ethereal. He will reportedly have long hair in flashback scenes.
There are now two actors portraying Sauron, as we found out in season one that Halbrand was, in fact, Sauron himself, portrayed by Charlie Vickers. Sauron is a master of disguises, so it is no surprise that there may be two or more actors portraying Sauron. In the lore, he presents himself to the different races of Middle-earth in a variety of forms. This helps him trick the different races into accepting his gifts: the titular rings of power.
According to Fellowship of Fans, most of the rest of the rings of power, of which there are still the seven for the Dwarves and then the nine for Men, will be forged in this season. Since Sauron is essential to this event, expect to see either Charlie Vickers or Gavi Singh Chera plenty in this coming season, which is set to premiere sometime in 2024.
