A new documentary focusing on the long life of Sir Christopher Lee is currently in the works. Many know Lee for roles such as Count Dooku in the Star Wars prequel trilogy, a recurrent role as Saruman in The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit films, and several iterations of Dracula, among many others. The Life and Deaths of Christopher Lee will be directed by Jon Spira. Spira’s previous works include directing and writing Hollywood Bulldogs: The Rise and Falls of the Great British Stuntman (2021) and several episodes of Reel Britannia (2022).

The Life and Deaths of Christopher Lee delves into the actor’s past, going deeper than his decades-long acting career. Lee had an intense military career heavily involved with special forces. He also had a heavy metal music career, even charting high on the Billboard Hot 100. All of that and more are explored in the documentary. Spira got his information from a variety of sources. Some of it came from the actor’s scrapbooks and past interviews. Other information came from direct interviews with people who knew the actor, such as family and directors like Martin Scorsese and Peter Jackson. A string puppet modeled after Lee will be narrating the whole film.
