Could 'Madame Web' Actor Sydney Sweeney Be Sprinting Towards 'The Running Man'?
The Running Man is getting closer to being filmed, and actors are already being considered. Twisters star Glen Powell has already been cast as Ben Richards, while a reliable source has given us another possible actress. Sydney Sweeney, known for her work on Madame Web and Anyone But You, is reportedly being eyed for the female lead role. We don’t know what this role is, but it has been speculated to be Amelia Williams, who Ben Richards takes hostage. Sydney Sweeney has been a rising star, despite Madame Web’s underperformance. This undisclosed role could be a boost for her career.
The Running Man is a 1982 novel by Stephen King, under the pseudonym Richard Bachman. It takes place in a dystopian future in which a deadly game show, called The Running Man, keeps the population distracted. In the show, contestants have to escape from the general public and professional killers. The novel was adapted into a 1987 movie starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, which was more of an action movie but still kept some of the novel’s themes. This new adaptation will likely be based more on the novel, though there could be some nods to the 1987 movie. We’ll just have to stay tuned to find out.
