First Look Of Tom Holland As Telemachus In Christopher Nolan's 'The Odyssey'

Much of Christopher Nolan’s upcoming The Odyssey has been kept under wraps. However, an Instagram post from user deuxmoi offered several glimpses of filming, including Tom Holland in costume. The actor’s garments of a dark leather shirt and a green cape led to comparisons to Frodo Baggins. But since The Odyssey is set in Ancient Greece, others have taken the costume as confirmation that Holland will play Telemachus, the son of Odysseus. In Homer’s original epic, Telemachus leaves home to search for his father. Photos of Holland, Nolan, and others on period boats seem to provide further evidence of the Telemachus theory. However, it should be noted that no official announcements have come regarding who Holland’s character is.
Holland is joined by a star-studded cast. Matt Damon will play Odysseus. Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Lupita Nyong’o, Robert Pattinson, Charlize Theron, Jon Bernthal, Benny Safdie, Mia Goth, Samantha Morton, John Leguizamo, Elliot Page, Himesh Patel, Corey Hawkins, Bill Irwin, Jesse Garcia, Will You Lee, Nick Taraby, Jimmy Gonzales, and Maurice Compete will bring their talents to Nolan’s recreation of the epic journey. The film is shooting in the U.K., Sicily, and Morocco. Nolan’s The Odyssey comes to theaters on July 17, 2026, the same month as Holland’s next Spider-Man film.
