Here Are The Most Watched TV Shows And Movies In 2024 So Far According To Nielsen

Big streaming services rarely share the numbers of their top five (or top ten) most watched movies or TV series, and even when they do it is usually in the rather undescriptive style of a "XYZ was the most watched show in the first 24 hours" press release. Add to this the often odd (and frequently changing) way how the companies accumulate their numbers (like Netflix's short-lived strategy of counting a show as watched if it had been consumed for at least two minutes).
And though the way TV consumption is measured has massively changed in recent years, the Nielsen rating is still the gold standard when it comes to objectively deciding which shows and movies resonate with the audience and which don't.
So, here are Nielsen's top-watched TV shows and movies of 2024:
Movies (for the week of Feb 5 to Feb 11):
The Marvels with 558M minutes (Disney+)
American Assassin with 515M minutes (Netflix)
Orion and the Dark with 389M minutes (Netflix)
The Super Maio Bros. Movie with 356M minutes (Netflix)
Made in Italy with 323M minutes (Netflix and Hulu)
TV shows (for the week of Feb 5 to Feb 11):
Young Sheldon with 1.34B minutes (Netflix and Max)
Bluey with 1.13B minutes (Disney+)
Grey's Anatomy with 860M minutes (Netflix)
Mr. & Mrs. Smith with 756M minutes (Amazon Prime)
True Detective (all seasons) with 745M minutes (Max)
Broadcast (for the week of Feb 26 to March 5):
Tracker with 7.61M viewers (CBS)
60 Minutes with 7.33M viewers (CBS)
Young Sheldon with 7.1M viewers (CBS)
NCIS with 7M viewers (CBS)
The Equalizer with 6.26M viewers (CBS)
Looking at the most in-demand new shows of each major platform for the week of Feb 23 to Feb 29:
AMC+'s top shows were The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, The Walking Dead: Dead City, and Planet Earth Ill.
On AppleTV+ Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, Silo, and Lessons in Chemistry took the top three spots.
Discovery+'s top three shows were The Curious Case of Natalia Grace, Contraband: Seized at the Border, and Fixer Upper: The Hotel.
On Disney+ Ahsoka, Secret Invasion and Goosebumps were the three most-watched shows of the week
For Hulu, these were Krapapolis, Murder at the End of the World, and Justified: City Primeval.
Max's top three shows were Scavenger Reign, Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake, and My Adventures with Superman.
The top three spots on Netflix were Avatar: The Last Airbender, One Piece, and Scott Pilgrim Takes Off.
On Paramount+ Frasier, Lawmen: Bass Revers and Special Ops: Lioness had the most viewers.
Peacock's top three were The Irrational, The Continental, and Twisted Metal.
And finally, Amazon Prime had Hazboin Hotel, The Walling Dead: Daryl Dixon, and Gen V in the top three.
