James Gunn Corrected A Journalist Over Robert Pattinson's 'Batman' And The Future Of The Star In The DCU

The future of the DCU is currently in a state of uncertainty, with the only people knowing anything for sure being James Gunn and Peter Safran. The two have been hard at work forming a ten-year plan for the future of the cinematic universe. Following reports last week of major shakeups in the DCU, Gunn has been on the offensive in batting down any theories before they can begin.
Last week, The Hollywood Reporter released an article covering numerous changes set to come in the DCU, including that Patty Jenkins was the downfall of the third Wonder Woman film. After this report, James Gunn took to Twitter to say, “…Some of it is true, some of it is half-true, some of it is not true, and some of it we haven’t decided on yet.” This has led to a flurry of speculations by fans as Gunn and Safran’s meeting to pitch their ten-year plan approaches with David Zaslav (President and CEO of Warner Bros). One of the biggest speculations across headlines came today as it was alleged that Robert Pattinson would become the Batman for the DCU.

As it stands, Todd Phillip’s Joker and Matt Reeves’ Batman universes both stand on their own. This was the plan prior, and looks to be the plan going forward. The Batman currently has two spinoff projects in the works, with a Penguin series and Arkham series on the way. As the future of the rest of the DCU continues to unfold, it’s become clear that James Gunn will be there to answer any questions along the way.
