James Gunn Reveals He's Working With Vertigo Comics On Some Upcoming Projects
Through his interactions with fans and shooting down rumors, James Gunn has become the best primary source for upcoming DC films and media updates. In a recent exchange on Twitter, a fan asked if we should expect more Vertigo characters in the DCU beyond Swamp Thing. After a brief history lesson, Gunn confirmed that some are being workshopped.
Gunn stated:
“Swamp Thing was in Vertigo comics, but he was really a DC character. That said, we're dealing with a couple potential things with Vertigo - comics that I really adored.”

The potential for Vertigo comics is vast, and it already has a couple of successes under its belt over at Netflix with Sandman and Lucifer. Recently, it was also reported that Dead Boy Detectives is moving production from HBO Max to Netflix. With Sandman season 2 currently in development, the future of Vertigo on the small screen just might be Netflix.
The last time the brand had a film was in 2019 with The Kitchen, starring Melissa McCarthy, Tiffany Haddish, and Elisabeth Moth. Aside from the technicalities of Swamp Thing and a second Constantine starring Keanu Reeves, there has been no other news regarding Vertigo stories hitting the big screen. Though, rest assured, James Gunn will be there to let us know if there will be.
