Joaquin Phoenix Sports A New Suit As The Clown Prince In New Photos From ‘Joker 2’
Fan videos are showing up on Twitter as Todd Phillips’ crazed clown sequel, Joker: Folie a Deux, begins filming in downtown Los Angeles. The footage captures Joaquin Phoenix running alongside two other Jokers on foot during a chase sequence. The new set photos show Phoenix in a muted yellow and gray suit versus the bright green, red, and yellow outfit audiences last saw him wearing at the end of the 2019’s Joker. The internet began to speculate who the additional Jokers could be in conjunction with the film.
There are very few details available beyond the fact that the film will be a musical. Brendan Gleeson, Catherine Keener, Jacob Lofland, and Harry Lawtey have been cast, but their exact roles remain undisclosed. With Lady Gaga’s musical background alongside Phoenix’s work in the Johnny Cash biopic Walk the Line, the choice to make the sequel is intriguing.
Many fans have also wondered where Phillips’ universe exists as James Gunn and Peter Safran took over at DC Studios. James Gunn did announce the Joker films will live under the “Elseworlds” banner of content alongside Matt Reeves’ The Batman.
Joker: Folie à Deux premieres in theatres on October 4, 2024.
