John Krasinski Doesn’t See Himself Returning As Mr. Fantastic
After years of fantasy casting and endless photoshopping, Jack Ryan and The Office star John Krasinski finally joined the MCU this year as Mr. Fantastic in Sam Raimi-helmed sequel Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness….before being turned into spaghetti by Wanda Maximoff. Not on his own though, as a member of Universe-838’s Illuminati he was in fine (and fan-pleasing) company - teaming up with Captain Carter (dead), Black Bolt (dead), Captain Marvel (dead), Professor X (dead) and Karl Mordo (surprisingly not dead!)
Easy come, easy go I suppose.
Not deterred by the untimely demise of everyone’s second favourite stretchy superhero (Number 1 is of course Mrs. Incredible and there will be NO further questions on this), fans naturally hoped that this meant that Krasinski would have a future in the MCU as the Fantastic Four reboot was on the horizon, and this was only an alternate version of Reed Richards – so anything was possible!

Sadly though, when asked about a possible return to the blue spandex during a recent press junket for Season 3 of Jack Ryan, Krasinski stated that he has had no discussions with anyone at Disney about reprising the role – though did say that “he was honoured to do it…to get to play in that sandbox for one day was a real thrill”. The Fantastic Four reboot is pencilled in for early 2025, and while Matt Shakman of WandaVision acclaim has stepped in to replace Jon Watts in the director’s chair, there has been no word yet on any casting for Marvel’s first family.
It is worth noting though, with the might of the House of Mouse behind the Fantastic Four film there will be some hefty NDAs and secrecy clauses involved. So this isn’t definitive proof that we won’t see Krasinski back as Richards at one point in the future. Let’s just hope he’s learned a few lessons before Doom comes up with a new linguini recipe.
