As Jump Festa ‘24 comes to a close in Japan, anime fans got a massive slew of announcements, trailers, and reveals for upcoming projects from some of their favorite creators and studios. Here are some of the major reveals and announcements coming from the event.

‘One Piece' “Egg Head Arc” And Remake Reveals

2023 has been a big year for One Piece fans, as the series celebrated 25 years in serialization, the anime reached the highly anticipated climax of its long-running ‘Wano Kuni Arc’, which included the reveal of Gear 5 Luffy. The live-action One Piece remake was released on Netflix and was met with praise from both critics and fans, overcoming massive hurdles when it comes to adapting iconic anime into live-action.

Just when it looked like things couldn’t get any better, it was announced at Jump Festa that Netflix has partnered with Wit Studios (Great Pretender, SpyxFamily) to produce an animated remake titled “The One Piece,” which will begin with the ‘East Blue Saga’ storyline, capitalizing on the success of the live-action remake. There are no details on a release date for the remake.

In addition to the remake, new details were revealed about the next arc of the One Piece anime, titled the “Egg Head Arc,” which will introduce even more characters to the already massive world of One Piece. It was also announced that Hiroshi Kitadani and Maki Otsuki would be returning to perform the new opening and ending themes respectively. Kitadani and Otsuki respectively performed the original opening and ending themes for the anime back in 1999. The Egg Head Arc will begin airing this January.

One Piece is available to stream on Crunchyroll, Netflix, and Hulu. The Live Action One Piece is also streaming on Netflix.

‘Kaiju No. 8’ Receives A New Trailer

Another trailer for this highly anticipated anime was also shared during Jump Festa by TOHO Animation. Kaiju No. 8 is based on the award-winning manga of the same name by Naoya Matsumoto, which began publication in 2020 and follows Kafka Hibino, a member of a kaiju clean-up crew who gains the ability to turn into a kaiju himself.

The anime is being produced by Production IG (Ghost in the Shell, Heavenly Delusion) and Studio Khara (Rebuild of Evangelion, Shin Godzilla) and will begin airing in April 2024. A simulcast release has been confirmed on Crunchyroll, meaning international fans can catch new episodes the day they air in Japan.

‘Chainsaw Man’ Movie Announced

Fans of the hit action-horror series by Tatsuki Fujimoto were in for a major surprise this weekend. In the year since the anime’s first season dropped, it’s largely been radio silence from MAPPA on plans for a continuation. While many were expecting Jump Festa to announce a second season of the series, we were instead surprised with the reveal that a movie is in the works. Fans got a brief teaser and a key visual for the film, currently titled “Chainsaw Man - The Movie: Reze Arc,” which will pick up where the first season left off, and focus largely on Denji’s relationship with Reze, a character who was also teased briefly at the end of the season. There are no further details or a release window for the film at this time.

Season One of Chainsaw Man is available to stream on Crunchyroll and Hulu.

‘My Hero Academia’ Season 7 And Movie Release Details Revealed

TOHO announced at Jump Festa that My Hero Academia’s upcoming seventh season will begin airing in May 2024, and dropped a trailer for the season that sets up the beginning of the end for this modern shonen classic. Before the upcoming season, a four-part recap special titled “My Hero Academia Memories” was also confirmed to be released in April.

It was also confirmed that the fourth film in the My Hero Academia series will be released in Japan this summer, though no further details were revealed for its international release.

All six seasons of My Hero Academia are available to stream on Crunchyroll and Hulu. All three My Hero Academia movies are streaming on Starz.

‘SpyxFamily’ Season 2 Finale Trailer Releases

While there were no big announcements or details revealed for the upcoming film or a potential third season, fans of the ongoing comedy series got their first look at the show’s upcoming season finale at Jump Festa. Season 2 of SpyxFamily began this past fall, with the season finale airing on December 23rd.

SpyxFamily is streaming on Crunchyroll and Hulu.

‘Bleach: Thousand Year Blood War Part 3’ Receives New Trailer

Also reported here, Aniplex revealed a new trailer for the third part of Bleach: Thousand Year Blood War, titled “The Conflict,” which teased the return of several fan-favorite characters from the long-running Bleach series, both allies and enemies, as well as the continuation of the intense ongoing battles between the Quincy Royal Guard and the soul reapers of Squad Zero.

The entirety of Bleach and the previous two parts of Thousand Year Blood War are streaming on Disney+, or Hulu for American audiences.
