MultiVersus, the Super Smash Bros.-style platform fighter game featuring characters from Warner Brothers titles, and Lebron James, is going offline. Geoff Knightley posted to X “Multiverses will shut down on May 30. Offline play will continue to be available after this date.” The game will no longer be listed on The PlayStation Store, Microsoft Store, Steam, and the Epic Games Store.

Low popularity is the stated reason the game will be discontinued, as Warner Brothers lost money on it. In a recent interview, chief financial officer Gunnar Wiedenfels said, "We took another $100 million plus impairment due to the underperforming releases, primarily MultiVersus this quarter, bringing total writedown year-to-date to over $300 million in our games business, a key factor in this year’s studio profit decline.” Real-world transactions are no longer supported, but in-game currency can still be used to unlock items.

The MultiVersus team also recently made an announcement thanking each of its players. “Most importantly, we want to thank every player and person who has ever played or supported MultiVersus. All of us on the Player First Games and Warner Bros. Games teams have poured our heart and soul into this game. We will be forever grateful for the incredible support of the MultiVersus community throughout this journey.”
