New Trailer Dropped For Upcoming 'Gollum' Video Game Set Between 'The Hobbit' And 'Lord Of The Rings'

Video games, and even some movies, provide fans and players with the ability to see things through the perspective of the antagonists in our favorite shows, movies, and games. Disney made a couple films about Maleficent. Who can forget Suicide Squad? Ever play the game Maneater? Either way, there seems to be a market for these types of media.

That same trend has extended to the realm of Middle-earth now. Announced in 2019, Daedalic Entertainment have set out to put a magnifying glass on the gangly, corrupt creature once known as Smeagol, Gollum. The story is set between the time when Bilbo managed to trick, sort of, Gollum out of the One Ring and escape the darkness of Misty Mountains and the beginning of The Lord of the Rings.

RELATED:

It’s certainly an interesting choice for a video game, to follow the story of Gollum as he tries to get back the Ring. Gollum and the environments he travels through are certainly beautiful and present the gamut of famous Middle-earth locales, it looks like it will be a game based almost entirely on stealth. He was never presented as a fighter, though capable of taking on the two Hobbits in the film, by the looks of the trailer, Gollum will have to deal with threats much, much bigger than a pair of Hobbits.

No official release date has been revealed yet, but the window does seem to be within the first half of the year. Keep a look out for more information.
