Pedro Pascal Will Make His 'Saturday Night Live' Debut Next Month

Grab your clickers, The Mandalorian is making his way to Studio 8H. NBC announced Thursday that Pedro Pascal will be hosting Saturday Night Live on February 4 for the first time. Pascal is not only currently starring in HBO’s adaptation of The Last of Us but has his third season as Din Djarin premiering on Disney+ on March 1, so he’s currently riding quite the high. Coldplay is joining him as the episode’s musical guest.
His episode will be the show’s third of the year, following Aubrey Plaza/Sam Smith last weekend and Michael B. Jordan/Lil Baby this weekend. The Last of Us premiered on Jan. 15 to 4.7 million viewers, the network’s second-best series premiere since Boardwalk Empire in September 2010. The second episode drew another million at 5.7 million viewers, amounting to a 22 percent rise from the series debut, the largest second-week viewership rise growth for any HBO original drama in the network’s 50-year history. This even led to a second-season renewal on Friday, and that second season will likely incorporate plots from the game’s sequel.
Having put on three straight shows and no further February episodes announced, it is highly likely this episode is the last Saturday Night Live episode to premiere before a brief break. Pascal is the ninth first-time host for the show this season, a count including Plaza, Jordan, Austin Butler, Keke Palmer, and Miles Teller.
